Mooney Magic On Show...

A 1-1 draw to open the new season yesterday against Barnoldswick.
First half we didn’t move the ball anywhere near quick enough and despite putting some quality balls into the box we huffed and puffed and maybe looked a little nervous.
We gave away a a very poor goal from a corner and it was near a mirror image a few minutes later before Regan Jarret had our best chance of the half, but seen his shot go straight at the keepers legs.

Connor Millington also forced the cat into a classy save tipped over the bar.

HT 0-1

Second half we was much better but still not as fluent as we have been in pre season, but a bit of magic from Paul Mooney seen us pull level with a absolute cracking freekick hitting the back of the net not long after he had a sighter saved.

Jordan Shannon went in one v one a minute later but couldn’t get his toe on it and more half chances followed before Luke Sephton had a massive chance saved which was similar to Reagan’s in the first half.

Barnoldswick then had a chance to sucker punch us as we searched for the winner with a player running the half of the pitch going in on Theo's goal but some unbelievable running from Tom McNamara seen him catch the player just as he was going to get his shot off, a match winning tackle no doubt.

FT 1-1

No the result we wanted to start the campaign but still we showed some character to not panic and in truth on another day we win the game not playing well so that can only help us moving forward and with a few lads to come back into the squad from injures which prevented them from being involved.

The Montage Memorabilia MOM went to Paul Mooney who was calm and assured throughout and let off one of his trademark freekicks…⚽️
Massive thanks to all in attendance today a 200+ crowd is a good way to open the seasons games at the Anny massive thanks to all who contributed to the collection for Fans Supporting Foodbanks.

We also welcomed the Big Help Project to the game today and it was great to see the families from Ukraine with coordinator Anna Ekvist enjoy there visit and thanks to Eddie Sully form the LFC Foundation for his help with some goodies also.
